From The Editor: "Anything in your closet worth demoting?"

On a recent trip to a consignment shop, I was disappointed when the clerk told me they would not accept my BCBG dress for consignment due to a small snag in the stitching on the back seam. The clerk suggested that I take it to a tailor for repair and then bring it back for consignment once the small snag was repaired. I have no doubt that this clerk had great intentions, however anyone who is aware of typical tailor prices knows that this would be an all out loss for me.

Unless I could get my tailor to do me a small favor in conjunction with having some of my other pieces fitted, I am looking at typical fees of anywhere of $8 - $12. My consignment take out is 40% and even though it is a $200 BCBG dress; I would imagine they would sell the dress for about 10% of that; at $20 which would have me bringing in $8. All in all, in this instance it is simply not worth the cost of consignment. This presents a very interesting question? What do we do with pieces that require repair or alteration which would not make it worth consigning, yet seem simply too valuable too merely give to goodwill? The answer is a demotion.

Why do we think when we go to the gym, take a trip to the grocery store or walk our dogs our clothing has to be sloppy? Why does all fashion sense go out the window? My beloved BCBG dress that I bought to wear to a friends tropical themed wedding, I've decided to demote it to my weekend errand running dress. When paired with a jean jacket and metallic flats this is a comfortable easy piece that will add fun and fashion sense to any weekend jaunt. The bigger benefit, I actually get to wear the dress that I spent $200 on 2 years ago yet only wore twice! A year from now when I do in fact decided that I am ready to give the dress to Goodwill at least I will feel like I got my moneys worth out of the dress.

Anything in your closet worth demoting?

Ask The Editor: "Good hair care products are hard to find!"

I'm stuck in an office style rut. At work I typically wear back pants or a black skirt with heels everyday. I don't have a lot of money to spend on a work wardrobe. How can I switch it up a little to make my look more original? Michelle, Milwaukee, 28
Accessories are definitely key here. I actually tend to wear a lot of basics myself (particularly when dressing casual). Look for cool items to help express your individual personality such as fun jewelry, hair accessories, and handbags. Forever 21 has a variety of fun accessories at low prices. There are also some really fun ballet flats available at Gap in multiple colors and patterns that could definitely add some volume to your current look.

My hairstyle is getting boring and I want to change the style. Thanks! Sam, Connecticut, 23
Go for a bob. The bob is classic, versatile and looks good on most face shapes. Plus it grows back without all of the "growing pains" associated with other haircuts. Check out pics of Katie Holmes and Rihanna for styling ideas.

Do you know where to find a shampoo called mermaid i think it's a loreal line. I used to buy it years ago. The conditioner came in a large tub and it was blue it smells so good. Karen, Ohio, 36
It's actually spelled "mermade". I was an avid fan myself at one time. I'm pretty sure the product has been discontinued for a while now, but you may be able to stumble upon some remainders at a wholesale company. Try the Kerastase line. It's a company owned by Loreal which specializes in hair conditioners. It's only available to professionals but you can probably get it at a JCPenney salon, mall salon or a professional beauty supply store, such as Sally's. Good Luck! Good hair care products are hard to find!

What I Just Bought: Fresh Fashion From Target

Go International® Colorblock Strapless Dress $39.99
I was awe-inspired by this chic little number from Target's Go International collections. This athletic yet sexy number is perfect for just about any occasion. This international line period is awesome; from the coats to the vests, everything is to die for. This dress in particular both hugs and enhance your shape. The fit is flattering. A word to the wise, this dress runs about a size smaller; be sure to size up!

Mossimo® Black: Printed Shorts $17.99
I almost always will opt for a skirt over a dress, so shorts are often ignored by me, but these hopelessly adorable retro print shorts really caught my eye! They are perfect for a laid back weekend in the Hampton's when paired with a cashmere sweater and leather sandals.

Seven Questions With Mimi: Designer of Miatta-Mimi and Owner of Boutique Mix

I had the pleasure of conducting an interview with Mimi, the designer of the Miatta-Mimi line and owner of Boutique Mix. I hope you will be as inspired as I was by this insightful interview. Here's what the talented and savvy business owner had to say:

Let me first thank you very much for this interview and the opportunity to get word out about the boutique. I really do appreciate it and as you probably know, I love your blog!!! As a little girl, I dreamed of owning my own fashion boutique. Growing up, I enjoyed looking at beautiful clothes and accessories, especially those that were hand-made. I envisioned myself as a fabulous designer or top model. I have lived in Europe, Western Africa, the UK South Africa, and spent some time in other locales, and these very diverse cultures have always influenced by fashion tastes. I am drawn to euro-chic and ethnic-chic, afro-centric and afro-euro. I wanted to offer a collection that appeals to a diverse group of shoppers from all parts of the globe. Fashion is universal, limited merely by our “comfort zones’ and our budgets.

The “Mix” in Boutique Mix represents an Ethnik Chik Kollection of diverse people, diverse tastes, global interests and the one true love of all things fashion. I wanted the collection to be reminiscent of the shopper's last vacation to Florence or last sojourn to Zimbabwe – unique items that remind us of the vacations we long to take or the memories we made during our most recent ones. Boutique Mix is your one stop fashion locale – an international excursion with no visa or passport required. I bring everything right to your computer. You’re only a mouse click away from looking fabulous.

The one question I get from everyone, especially in my legal work is “why is an attorney and cpa” dabbling in fashion? I’m not really dabbling. Fashion has always been my first love. When I realized that I needed to go to school and that modeling/designing can wait, I surged full steam ahead – getting my BS in accounting with my minor in French, my MBA, my JD and finally my CPA. These academic tools allow me to understand the business environment, to recognize what’s important, to understand financing and the abc’s of structuring my business, and most importantly to understand and appreciate the business and legal realities facing all small business owners. I will never put myself in one box or label myself as one thing or another. I am merely an African Woman living her life like its golden and thanking God for all the blessings and opportunities in my life!!!

My other true passion is human rights activism, and Boutique Mix allows me the freedom and flexibility to accomplish my goals. Obviously as a business owner I would love to see Boutique Mix flourish and become more profitable than my wildest dreams. At the end of the day, however, Gloria Steiner said it best ----- It is more rewarding to watch money change the world than watch it accumulate. Using Boutique Mix as a stepping stone to make a difference one child at a time is the reason why I sleep very well at night.

Boutique Mix features funky and fabulous accessories. What do you think is the most important accessory item for women? The most important fashion accessory for any woman is definitely one that flatters and fits!!! To me, purses rank at the top of the list. Scarves, belts, earrings and necklaces can overwhelm an outfit much more easily that a purse can. Finding that one purse that complements your outfit is the key to looking elegant, chic, retro, sassy, sexy, funky, edgy or classy. Necklaces rank second on my list. I’m a huge necklace fan. Of course, the bolder, chunkier and bigger, the better for me. How do you select merchandise for your boutique? I select merchandise that transcend seasons and trends. I do market research, follow trade shows and communicate with vendors. I select merchandise that looks great all year round, and I never limit myself to brand names as long as the product fits my boutique image. I tend to select a diverse range of merchandise because my goal is to provide an international ethnik chik kollection that isn’t limited by the customer’s fashion sense or budget. Whether you’re the sophisticated budget-conscious buyer looking for that $5 wallet or the sophisticated up market shopper looking to spend $1000, Boutique Mix caters to you. What's hot at boutique mix right now; what are people buying or buzzing about? Online, it’s all about the little black dress, ditto brand jeans and the Bamboo eco-friendly purses. For in-store shoppers, it’s definitely the Iris Design bracelets, the Miatta-MiMi necklaces and the Gypsy 05 organic dresses. What designers in your boutique are you absolutely loving right now? Definitely Gypsy 05. I have been a fan of their clothes for the last two years, especially their maxi dresses. Their clothes are eco-friendly and produced in a solar-powered factory using organic fabric and natural dyes. I notice that several celebrities have been wearing them all over the place. The maxi dress has been featured in Life & Style magazine and has been seen on Lauren Conrad, Christina Aguilera, Hayden Panetierre, and Denise Richards, to name a few. What inspired you to create the Miatta-MiMi line? I always wanted to create my own line of jewelry because most of the stuff out there is demure and dainty. I love big chunky wood, resin, whatever. After getting numerous compliments on the necklaces and bracelets I made for myself I decided to start the line. I wanted to create jewelry for women who love to stand out; women that wanted to own their look and women who felt comfortable and sassy enough to get noticed. Miatta-MiMi is definitely not for the faint of heart – the pieces are bold and funky. Dazzle at your own Risk. What's your favorite travel destination? Definitely Capetown, South Africa. I love the mountains, the beaches, the towns, the people and the culture. I feel at peace with myself, my work and life whenever I am there. Boutique Mix was born in Capetown. Italy is a close second!!!! Those Italian Men. Wooooo. What CD could be the soundtrack to your life? Definitely depends on where I am and what’s going on at any one time in my life. If I had to compile the CD soundtrack to my life it will be (1) Leeann Womack – I Hope You Dance (2) Cyndi Lauper – Girl’s Just Wanna Have Fun (3) Madonna – Holiday (4) R. Kelly – The Storm is Over (5) Brad Paisley – When I Get Where I’m Going (6) 2Face Ibidia – African Queen (7) Cyndi Lauper – Time after Time (8) Cyndi Lauper – True Colors (9) Celine Dionne – Because You Loved Me (10) Garth Brooks – Unanswered Prayers (11) Gloria Gaynor – I will Survive (12) Garth Brooks – The River **Bonus Tracks (13) Bob Carlisle – Butterfly Kisses (14) Luther Vandross – Dance With My Father

Fashion Theory: Spring Clean Your Closet

"You wake up in the morning and eagerly open your closet. Minutes later you have easily selected the perfect outfit to wear and you leave your home looking like liquid gold."
- Barbra Horowitz, Closet Control

The Prize:
The key to staying stylish is keeping your wardrobe current and in great condition. This is best accomplished when your wardrobe is well organized and easily accessible. It comes as no surprise that most women admit that they struggle with finding something to wear frequently. Contrarily, these same women admit that their closets are literally bursting at the seams. The manifestation is somewhat cyclical, "nothing to wear, so you buy something to wear", "buy something to wear, realize you have nothing to wear it with, so you buy something to wear it with". Meanwhile your closet is bursting at the seams with clothes that are ill-fitting or unflattering. The clothes that your closet is now brimming with reflect hours of effort and time, in some cases credit card debt or that vacation you could have taken to San Tropez, and alas the unquenchable desire for "that perfectly stylish wardrobe that fully represents your stellar self". If this routine sounds familiar here's my advices for pulling it all together. Take a deep breath... ready... go!

How To Spring Clean Your Closet:

1. Get five boxes and mark them 'Keep,' 'Donate' 'Dump' 'Fix' and 'Maybe'.

2. Evaluate each item you remove from the closet. Classify each items as follows:

Keep: Start with jackets, suits, and separates. Keep your essentials, the clothes that make you feel good, the clothes that have worked for you over and over--as long as they're in good condition, still fit, and don't look dated.

Donate: If you're the same size and haven't worn something in a year or more (some recommend two years), plan to give it away--unless it's evening wear. An evening outfit or separates that look and feel great can be worn for years.

Dump: Throw out clothes that aren't fit to donate (c'mon, you know they're in there!) Keep a few things for dirty jobs like gardening, painting, and store them with your tools. Unless you keep your tools in the garage, because then you'll never wear them because you'll be afraid they're full of spiders or something.

Fix: Put anything that needs a hem, button, alteration, or cleaning into this box. Once everything else is organized, come back to this box and get to work. For things you can't fix yourself, go to the dry cleaner or tailor (every woman needs a good tailor--if you don't have one, ask your friends and acquaintances for recommendations). Make sure this box is empty by the end of the day, even if you've just put the things in your car to take to the designated repair person. One more caveat--make sure you really want to keep the things you're fixing--or you're just wasting money.

Maybe: This box is for the shirt you got on sale but never wore because you don't have anything to go with it, or just never bothered to figure out what to wear with it, the pants that are a little too tight, etc. At the end of the day, seal this box and put it somewhere else, away from your closet. Anything you don't miss after four months should be given away.

3. Once you've completed these steps, look over your keepers again and see how they coordinate with one another. If one piece doesn't fit with anything else, donate it. (Shopping to find things to go with it will recreate the problem you just finished solving--your wardrobe should be a coherent, cohesive unit. It's great to have pieces that express different aspects of your personality, but they still should all fit!).

4. Now make a list of things you need, like a new shell for a favorite suit, or a new white shirt to replace the one you just got rid of. Put the keepers back in your closet and revel in all your new space--and in being able to see your clothes. And enjoy getting dressed the next day; it'll be so much easier and faster...and now you get to go shopping!

Destination Miami: South Beach on a Budget

What seems like endless trips to Miami have punctuated me with a wealth of knowledge on the hot spot known as South Beach. Alas, I've been hitting the Ocean Drive strip for about ten years now; since college years to young working professional and have done so on both a modest and earnest budget. A blog reader recently responded to the What To Wear: South Beach Miami Weekend in 25 Glamorous Pieces! post that I did a couple of months ago. The reader admitted that she did like some of my styling suggestions. However was unable to attain them based on her budget. She also lamented that her overall trip to Miami was shaping out to be quite expensive overall and was actually debating whether or not the trip was indeed worth the money.

Here's some fast facts on saving some bounty in South Beach:

1. The Flight: The final destination may be Miami but that doesn't mean you have to fly directly into Miami Airport. Flights into the Fort Lauderdale and West Palm regions can run anywhere from 20%-40% lower than flights landing in Miami. Shuttlediscount.com offers shuttle service from Fort Lauderdale airport into South Beach at $25* each way; compared to the standard $30 flat rate taxis charge from Miami Airport to South Beach. The discount in airfare price can be particularly advantageous if you're traveling in a group as opposed to solo.

2. The Transportation: The going rate for taxi fares in Miami is around $1.85 per mile with $2.00 for every minute waiting. If you're not staying in the heart of South Beach's Ocean Drive trips up and down the strip can get quite expensive; as much as $20 per trip during peak traffic times! My solution? Take the bus! (I know we've all admittedly retorted at one point at another that we wouldn't be caught dead on a city bus; but hey this is Miami no one knows you!). At a $2 fare price, cozying up to the bus schedule could save you more than a pretty penny on transportation!

3. The Hotel: Miami is known for it's outrageously priced hotels! Once you have stayed in Miami a few times you kind of become hip to the fact that a lot of these "boutique" hotels are overpriced and not up to par. These hotels often serve as somewhat of a "tourist trap" and usually offer lackluster amenities with a host of hidden fees. If you're in the market for a resort hotel, check out the Deauville Beach Resort Hotel in Miami Beach. The hotel may lack some of the glamour and poshness associated with some of it's newer and more luxurious neighbors; however the hotel more than makes up for it in charm, character, and amenities. The Deauville was the center of Miami Beach in the glamorous 60s, where Frank, Dino and Sammy romped and John, Paul George and Ringo made history. The Deauville Beach Resort is a full-service hotel situated on over 700 ft. of sun-drenched, white sand beach and a beautiful oversized pool. If you're completely set on staying in South Beach then the award-winning boutique hotel, Crest Hotels is a great option. The hotel is located just steps from the Lincoln Road Mall and only a few blocks from the world famous Ocean Drive. Each suite comes complete with its own kitchenette including a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. Guests can also enjoy a low-cost breakfast at the Crest Hotel's Cafe de Crest restaurant. If you insist on being in the action of it all than the Pelican Hotel is by far your best budget price hotel on Ocean Drive. The eccentric boutique hotel, launched by the fashion company Diesel, has ostentatiously designed theme rooms and is located in the heart of the famous "Deco District". Each Pelican Room is equipped with wireless Internet access, movies, a CD player and the pristine bathroom fixtures which include luxury rainshowers. Located just off the lobby, the Pelican Café is a favorite spot to wine and dine for fashion celebrities.

4. The Date: Know when to go! If you're gung-ho about visiting Miami during Spring Break or the Winter Music Conference expect to pay high hotel fees, airfare prices, and cover charges. Of course it's nice to see and be seen during South Beach's hottest peak times. However, the cost of expensive hotel rates and airfare, as well as the time you spend waiting at crowded restaurants, clubs, and beaches just may not be worth it. Although somewhat less bubbly, South Beach can be a real treat during the leisure months of May and October, when the Spring Break parade is over and many of the locals come out to play.

5. The Food: Pack a Snack! Granola bars, trail mix, even peanut butter and crackers are great snacks when you're in your hotel relaxing. Another tip, upon arrival visit a local bodega (there are a ton of them in the area) and grab some fresh fruit and juices. These items tend to be relatively low priced in the local bodegas and are great options for a quick, inexpensive breakfast. Want to save even more? Make lunch your big meal of the day as opposed to dinner. Some of the best restaurants on the strip offer lunch menus with entrees priced from $8-$15 that are nearly identical to their dinner menus where prices often skyrocket to as much as $35 an entree. Do yourself a favor and eat a nice extensive lunch; then at dinner time opt for pizza, sandwich, or visit a local diner.
-
6. The Time: Go out early! Since Miami nightclubs can easily run til 4am the bulk of the crowd doesn't get into Miami clubs until after midnight. Due to this most nightclubs and lounges offer reduced admission or free entry into their establishments between the hours of 10-12am. This is especially a great option if you're a newcomer to Miami nightlife as it will give you more time to check out various places without worrying about paying entry fees.

7. The Female Advantage: Smile and look pretty! This city loves beautiful ladies and looking good here pays. Miami men are known for buying pretty girls drinks and will often do so with just a nod or a simple hello. Since club promoters like keeping the ratio of women to men pretty high at nightclubs a lot of times men have a hard time getting into nightclubs. Due to this, men usually have an easier time getting in nightclubs when they are coupled up. Now is your chance to return a favor! If you arrive at a nightclub and are daunted by a long line; look for a group of men that are waiting in line (make sure they're straight) proposition to be their "dates" until you get into the nightclub. This will save the men a great deal of hassle at the front door and save you and your friends some time waiting in line!

Ask The Editor: "It's just a matter of putting the right pieces together..."

Here are some answers to some recent stye dillemas I've answered:

What should I wear for a horse-back photo shoot? Please help! I've hired a professional to take a portrait of me on my horse. What should I wear? Also, do you have any suggestions on how I should style my hair? Rosalia, New Mexico, 22
I would suggest classic jeans or riding pants but dress it up with a nice blouse maybe a poet blouse with ruffles or it that's bit much for you do a classic white button up shirt and a vest. I would style the hair natural; maybe with a little wave or curl for extra body.

Do you know of any plus size stores for women which carry urban and stylish clothing? Geena, Rochester, 26
Visit http://www.curvychick.com/ - you'll find tons of links to great shopping sites and thousands of plus size women who can direct you to what you're looking for. There's a fashion message board there where girls post photos of clothing and of themselves wearing what they've bought, so it's a great resource.

I love the bohemian fashion. But I cannot get much of it because I have little money and cannot find anything like it for a cheap price. Any advice on where to get it cheaper? Alicia, Seattle, 34
Bohemian is more of a look than a particular style of clothing. Bohemian is typically ethnic printed pieces, bright eclectic jewelry, and layering various pieces to create a well-traveled look. You probably have some of this stuff in your closet it's just a matter of putting the right pieces together to bring this look to full potential. Here's what I recommend for creating this look (all affordable): Layering Tanks: These could be purchased in a variety of colors and styles at prices ranging from $2.50 (Forever 21's Brilliant Buy Camisole) to $14. (standard Gap tank price). Ethnic Print Tops, Skirts, & Dresses: Since ethnic tops and dresses will be key items in your Bohemian look; you should be prepared to spend a little more here and go for some pieces that really project the bohemian look you are going for. Look to stores like Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie. Metallic & Patterned Flats: Patterned flats are everywhere this season. Check out Old Navy for some low prices options. Natural Elements & Eclectic Accessories: Tons available at low prices at Forever 21. Also thrift, resale stores, and street vendors are great places to score bohemian pieces!

Fashion Theory: The 5 F's of a Fabulous Trench

What makes the trench so flattering is the overall shape. The swing style and belted waist balances out the overall figure to create a well proportioned illusion. The fabric, color, and specific cut are amenities that can be changed to suit your figure. Anyone can look good in a trench but not everyone looks good in any trench. The key is to find the right trench. When searching for the perfect trench be sure to examine:

Fit: A trench, like a suit, is a tailored piece and should fit the body precisely. Examine the coat for proper fit. The sleeves should fall at your wrist, the bottom of the jacket should hit right above your knee (if mid-length) and the buttons should button easily without pulling. The jacket should fit your overall chest and shoulders well. The collar should lie flat against the back of the neck and the lapels should lie flat against the body. Also, consider functionality. Do you typically wear your coat buttoned or unbuttoned? Do you prefer swing or flap pockets?

Figure: Not only is it important to choose a coat that fits precisely it is also important to consider which style will be best suited for your unique figure. If your full-figured or curvy you'll want to avoid double-breasted styles; where as a boyish figure may benefit from this option. If your short you should avoid styles that hit below the knee while women which are bottom-heavy or tall should avoid jackets that hit at the thigh or have flap or patch pockets at the hip (typically the widest part).

Fabric: The trench is available in a variety of fabrics, the classic canvas, waterproof nylon, and denim to name a few. Be sure that you choose a fabric that best compliments your lifestyle as well as your climate. (I know purchasing a coat based on climate conditions... crazy, right?) If you live in the Northeast where torrential downpour is quite the norm in the Spring than a waterproof trench may be a good option. On the flip side if your Springs are spent in the Arizona desert; you probably could forgo the raincoat trench and stick to a lightweight fabric.

Function: What's the occasion? Will you be wearing this coat everyday, for special occasions, or for work? If it's an everyday coat it's probably best to go for versatility. Stick with a clean, tailored knee length coat in a basic color. For evening, think details like embroidery and jewel tone buttons and luxe fabrics such as satin.

Flavor: Color is for the most part about personal preference; however you should bear a few things in mind when choosing your desired hue. 1) What colors are most flattering with your skin tone and hair color 2) How long you plan to wear your coat? If this is an investment piece " I would advise you to go classic rather than the "of-the-moment" canary or kelly green. 3) What colors are in your current wardrobe? Obviously, a neutral is the most versatile solution, however if your wardrobe consists of mainly neutrals a classic color, like red or blue, could be a wise investment.

From The Editor: "Before you buy that white trench..."

Okay, I am in full accordance with the law of the trench coat being a staple clothing item in every one's closet. In fact this seasons crop of trench redux has been greeted with quite abundant exuberance on my behalf. I have blogged about it on more than one occasion, urging fellow fashionistas that "this year is the year to get much needed trench coat you've been putting off" or "if you are already a trench devotee its a good time to grab one of this season bright or cropped versions". Hold that thought...

I recently hit the boutiques in search of the perfect trench. In my quest for trench perfection, I tried on about a gazillion different options. White was my first color choice for my "new chic trench". However my fantasy chic white trench seemed to keep clashing with reality. I couldn't help but feel somewhat "pharmaceutical" everytime I tried on a classic white trench. In fact, all I needed was a stethoscope and a thermometer and I could have rivaled any member of the cast from Grey's Anatomy.

My second color choice for my "new chic trench" was tan. This color option faired a little better than white, however I just couldn't help laughing at my reflection in the mirror as the tune "d-d-d-d-ad-d-a-ddaa inspector gadget..." rang through my head. Gee, all I need is a pipe and a haber dasher hat and I'll be all set to solve the next cape charade.

In the end, I acquired a basic black trench (hold the applause). I know "tres basic", yet it does have white piping and buttons which add a little bit of flair to the coat. The style is basic; yet I went a size smaller than I typically wear to avoid looking billowy and evoking someone who works at the cosmetics counter.

So in retrospect, I still agree that the trench is a style staple; however I think it is important that we don't go rushing aboard the "trench coat express" without bearing witness that all trench coats are not created equal. Alas, I have compiled a few style notes to aid you on your next trench shopping adventure. Check out the new Fashion Theory post entitled "The 5 F's of a Fabulous Trench" and hopefully your trench coat shopping trip will be f*word free!

Have a Fashionable Day!

Fashion Icon: British Glamour Picks Top 10 Best Dressed Women!

British Glamour magazine named their top ten picks of best dressed female celebrities. Taking first place,, to no surprise, was Kate Moss. Kate Moss was name best dressed due to her numerous fashions risks. She's graced the "best dressed" list more than a few times! Sienna Miller snagged second place, while Scarlett Johansson and Rachel Bilson placed third and fourth. British TV star Alexa Chung came in at number six; while Reese Witherspoon placed seventh. I've always found her style sense to be refreshing. Her looks are classic yet versatile. Easy looks for any fashionable woman to pull off. Eighth and ninth place were shielded by style on the street fashionistas Jessica Alba and Keira Knightley. Of course, no fashion list is complete without Brit's own Victoria Beckham. She rounded out the list at number ten. This fashionista never met a trend she didn't like (or couldn't pull off for that matter). Remember the Project Runway finale when she basically ask Christian Siriano for his entire collection? Knock!

On The Style Radar: LnA Zipper Leggings

-

Time for your first official guilty pleasure of the month! For some, this may seem more like an April Fools Day joke, but for those of us who have learned to love leggings again (the transition was gradual, hence I'm wearing a pair today) this is quite exciting. LnA's stylish take on bright colored leggings are in high style and in high demand! I think this look is done best in simplicity; as the bright hues coupled with the side zippers speak volumes. Check out the model above; neon leggings, basic black top, and heels. It's easy dressing yet signifies high fashion. The key here is not to appear over dressed. Shop Singer 22 for an exclusive first peak at LnA leggings. Styles retail at $110 and are available for shipment on 4/30.

From The Editor: Shopping for a swimsuit is like shopping for a husband.

April is greeted with great anticipation. This month the apresenta blog will focus on a wealth of useful topics. The first and foremost topic is the task of Spring Cleaning Your Closet. The onset of the warm weather of April means it is now time to fully transition into your lightweight wardrobe. That's right, it's time to purge your closet, yet again, in an effort to access your current inventory, fine-tune your clothing, and plan appropriate purchases for your Spring wardrobe. This task is imperative for sailing through the Spring in a chic and sophisticated fashion.

Although swimsuits made their first store splash in February, April is officially swimsuit shopping month. Shopping for a swimsuit is like shopping for a husband. This month, we're scoping out the perfect swimsuit for every figure with a "no-holds barred", "taking no prisoners approach" (read: you will find a swimsuit this month). Our series entitled Swimsuit Solutions, will focus on finding the most flattering swimsuits for every figure. In addition, the crowd-pleasing What To Wear workbook post, will provide great insight on pulling your new swimsuit look "together" with the use of great handbags, shoes, and accessories.

Once you've perfected your Spring wardrobe and found the perfect swimsuit, there's only one thing left to do; plan the perfect getaway. Our Tropical Treat series, will focus on fashionable trips to the tropics including Tenerife, Bora Bora, Cannes, and of course the ever self indulgent South Beach, Miami.

There are lots of goodies in store this month. Stay tuned!

Have a Fashionable Day!
